AP85-441 is a S. spontaneum tetraploid (2n=4x=32, x=8) obtained from an anther culture of the octoploid (2n=8X=64) SES208 accession (Moore et al., 1989).

SES208 was collected in India, Sevoke West Bengal (Pange & Babu 1959).

The assembly was performed using BAC pools sequenced with Illumina HiSeq 2500 and whole-genome shotgun sequencing with PacBio RS II as well as Hi-C reads, followed by Illumina short reads polishing. The assembly represent a total of 3.1 Gb from which 2.9Gb are assembled in 32 pseudo-chromosomes organized in 8 homologous groups comprising each 4 homologous chromosomes.

A total of 35,525 protein-coding genes models were annotated with alleles defined.
